A High-Level Economic and Trade Meeting Between the Kurdistan Region and the People’s Republic of China

Sheikh Khalid Warti, Deputy President of the Erbil Branch; and distinguished members of the Erbil Branch’s Administrative Board ( Haji Abdulkhaliq Zrar and Dr. Shwan Sherzad Sheikh) H.E. (Geylan Haji Omar)President of the Chambers of Commerce in the Kurdistan Region and (Sheikh Mustafa Abdulrahman )President of the General Union of Importers and Exporters in the Kurdistan Region, a high-level economic and trade meeting was held between businessmen and companies from the Kurdistan Region and a senior Chinese trade delegation, in the presence of the Deputy Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Erbil, at the Sheraton Hotel – Erbil.
The meeting represented an important step toward strengthening and expanding economic and commercial relations between the Kurdistan Region and the People’s Republic of China, while creating new opportunities for direct cooperation between companies, investors, and business communities on both sides.
During the meeting, the participants discussed a wide range of key areas, including investment opportunities, trade cooperation, increasing bilateral trade exchange, technology and expertise transfer, attracting Chinese companies and investments to the Kurdistan Region, and developing joint economic and investment projects.
The meeting also provided a valuable platform to introduce Chinese companies and investors to the economic potential, market opportunities, and strategic advantages of the Kurdistan Region, while enabling business representatives from the Region to gain a better understanding of opportunities available within the Chinese market.
The Erbil Branch of the Kurdistan Region Importers and Exporters Association continues its efforts to establish stronger connections between the private sector of the Kurdistan Region and international economic institutions and companies, with the aim of opening new horizons for trade, investment, economic partnerships, and sustainable economic development.
It is hoped that this important meeting will serve as a practical foundation for a new chapter in economic and commercial relations between the Kurdistan Region and the People’s Republic of China, contributing to the development of concrete business partnerships, investment projects, and long-term cooperation between the two sides.
